Hi, has anyone implemented weighted search results using the simple page search?  If so, I would be interested to know how you went about it.

Regards.

On our own sites (www.composite.net etc.) we use Google CSE (Custom Search Engine) - there is a cost associated starting with $100 a year (see http://www.google.com/sitesearch/ and click pricing) but then your search needs should be pretty well taken care of. You even get the 'did you mean' feature when people misspell like on http://www.composite.net/C1/Search.aspx?q=XLST (wow, that sample link does show some flaws in the spelling on our sites).

If that something you can use, let me know and we will create a package that does most of the work.

We are using C1 for an internal intranet so the Google offering does not quite suit our purpose.  Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Take a look at http://docs.composite.net/Composite.Search.MicrosoftSearchServer - you can hook up to MS Search Server, like the free Express edition.

You could also take a look on this thread for alternatives to Microsoft Search Server http://serverfault.com/questions/40356/open-source-alternative-to-google-appliance-for-intranet-search

Hi, has anyone looked at the XSLTSearch package from Percipient Studios?  It is currently available free of charge for use in Umbraco CMS and looks to be a well designed xml search package that does provide weighted serch results.

Regards.

We just published new package Composite.Search.GoogleSiteSearch. The package uses Google Site Search API to retrieve and display the search results.
