Try if the info on http://docs.composite.net/C1/Getting-started/Setup-check-failures.aspx?errors=connection is helpful. If not, please post again.

Ok - lets get some more details and see if can figure this out. Below are steps that will give some good exception - please execute them and send the error details to this thread.

  1. On your Composite C1 site, create a new file called "ping.ashx" and copy/page in the code shown below. Save the file.
  2. In a browser call http://localhost:12345/ping.ashx - where ‘localhost:12345’ should be the host/port your Composite C1 site is running on

(The expected result from the web page is 'Ping result: true'. If there are outbound https connection problems an exception will de displayed).

The code for ping.ashx:

<%@ WebHandler Language="C#" Class="PingTester" %>
using System.Web;
using Composite.Core.WebClient.Setup;

public class PingTester : IHttpHandler
{
    public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
    {
        // This is expected to return either 'true' or throw an exception
        bool pingOk = SetupServiceFacade.PingServer();

        context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain";
        context.Response.Write(string.Format("Ping result: {0}", pingOk));
    }

    public bool IsReusable
    {
        get
        {
            return false;
        }
    }
}

If you are on a network where Internet access require a proxy, then step 4 is correct - but you need to specify the address of your proxy - "http://proxyserver:80" is just an example. Contact your local network admin for this information - or check if you can find it in your browsers setup.
