I have tried to follow this guide

http://docs.composite.net/C1/Console/CustomizingVisualEditor/StyleSelector.aspx

After i while my changes came into the editor. I then Changed the common.xml file. Uploadt.

In C1 I tried tools->restart server.

I also did a IISreset. But still i have the old style settings.

I added <radiogroup>
  <format id="h3" label="Heading 3" notes="Heading H3" block="h3">
    <select />
  </format>
</radiogroup> as the example and also the settings there where commentet out in the xml file "H1.nice"

Eaven if i just upload the standard xml file, the functions is still there. Is the settings chaced some where or?

neess,
To add/remove things from/to common.xml - no need to restart, just close and open document once again.

Please make sure you added your markup NOT in between comment tags - <!--  --> - if not, please post here complete common.xml or zip it and send me url to download.

for CSS please use relative path, for example to include Frontend/Composite/Community/Blog/Styles.css use this:

<style file="../../Composite/Community/Blog/Styles.css" />

Regarding Heading 3... just add it like this:

  <format

				id="h2"
				label="Heading H2"
				image=""
				notes="Small heading"
				block="h2">
					<select/>
			</format>
			<format
				id="h3"
				label="Heading H3"
				image=""
				notes="Heading 3"
				block="h3">
					<select/>
			</format>
			<format
				id="p"
				label="Paragraph"
				image=""
				notes="Paragraph"
				block="p">
					<select/>
			</format>

That helped with the stylesheets.

If I add the format in the C1 editor in layout it uses the new changes.

If I upload the XML file by FTP it is not loaded.

make sure you edit via C1 and upload via FTP same file to same location. what happens if u make changes and upload them via ftp and than re-save web.config?
