Composite.Lists.EventCalendar is a free module and implements Events functionality in a simple way. Here is documentation article -

Composite.Community.EventCalendar is a commercial package and not available for free. But you can try a trial version. It implements more advanced Events functionality, such as sign up form for events, event includes its
description, schedule and location. You can control the signup deadlines and the maximum number of signups to an event (seats). You can also use notifications to inform the participants of their changed signup status: signed up, queued, or canceled. For

Both packages to store events data use a page datafolder attached to a page. So to add actual data you can only under the page set up to list events.
For example, how to add Events for Composite.Lists.EventCalendar:
1. Create a page for displaying events ("Events", for example).
2. Add the Composite.Lists.EventCalendar page datafolder to the page. (right click on the page -> Add datafolder -> select Composite.Lists.EventCalendar)
3. Add Events to the data folder (right click on data folder -> Add data)
