Hi,

I'm searching for information on how to update manually to the new 2.1 version from an older installation (Composite C1 2.0 SP1 Patch 1).

I already found information about the upgrade subscription - but is there a way or a tutorial to do it manually ?

Any suggestions ?

Hi,

I followed the instructions from @burningice here: http://compositec1.codeplex.com/discussions/242507 and it worked !

Just copied the whole website folder from the 2.1 download and started C1 Console - C1 detected the upgrade and is running fine now with 2.1  :-)

Thanks to @burningice !

You should pay special attention to files in ~/App_Data that you overwrite - for instance overwriting ~/App_Data/Composite/Composite.config may remove configuration settings that were added by C1 Packages you installed during 2.0.

We will write up guidelines on how to do a manual upgrade as a "community service". Internally we use our upgrade packages since they take care of the whole thing and are pretty easy and safe to use, so we don't have much hands on experience doing it 'the hard way'. Stay tuned for a guide :)

Ok, I first restored the old Composite.config from my backup.

Will test and see how it works.

I will stay tuned for the guide.

Any many thanks for a great (maybe the best ?) open source .NET CMS :-)
