Manual upgrade steps for upgrading C1 2.1 -> 2.1.1

0. Just in case, create a backup copy of your site

1. Download sources of Composite C1 2.1.1 ("Visual Studio" version from http://compositec1.codeplex.com/releases/view/64021 )

2. Delete and copy from  2.1.1 the following files:

Hello, I am new to composite updates. I need help installing from 2.1 to 2.1.1.

i downloaded the installed package but i don't understand the rest.

1. Delete and copy from 2.1.1? Delete it and copy it where?

Where am i extracting these items?

I opened the VS solution but not sure what to do from here.

Hi Pamela,

sorry, the description above skips a bunch of interim steps - here with more detail:

  1. Back up your website before upgrading. This can be done by making a copy of the folder containing your website or via a backup C1 Package 
  2. Download http://compositec1.codeplex.com/downloads/get/226050
  3. Extract the ZIP to a temporary directory on your computer
  4. From this temporary directory, copy (overwrite) the files listed below to the same location on your running Composite C1 site:
    • \Composite\services\Tree\TreeServices.asmx
    • \Composite\services\SourceEditor\MarkupFormatService.asmx
    • \bin\Composite.dll

Note that Composite has a (commercial) option where you can upgrade all the way to the latest release through a wizard. The upgrade above is fairly straight forward, but major upgrades can be a bit hairy if you do them manually.
